Remotejobify report · October 2026
Only 1 in 53 remote jobs is open to people in Australia
On 22 October 2026, 809 of the 42,920 remote jobs listed on Remotejobify (2%) were open to people in Australia. How we check.
Today we read 42,920 open remote jobs, straight from companies’ own job boards, and checked who each one is actually open to. For people in Australia, most “remote” jobs are out of reach.
What we found
- Only 2% of remote jobs are open to people in Australia. That’s 809 of 42,920.
- About 1 in 3 only hire in the United States. 16,850 jobs, plus 1,795 more open to the US and just one or two other countries.
- Many more hire in a single other country. 16,442 are open in one country that isn’t Australia or the US.
- “Work from anywhere” is rare. Only 371 jobs, about 1 in 116, are open to anyone, anywhere.
- 266 jobs are open only to people in Australia. The rest of the 809 name Australia alongside other countries, or a region that includes it, such as APAC or ANZ.
- Pay is mostly hidden. Only 86 of the 809 show a salary, 19 of them in Australian dollars.
- Some roles are more open than others. About 3% of customer support jobs are open to Australia, and 3% of DevOps and infrastructure jobs, but only 1% of finance and legal ones.
- 297 companies are hiring people in Australia remotely. 64 of these jobs were posted in the past week.
What it means if you’re job hunting in Australia
- Check who a job is open to before you apply. Look for “must be based in the US” or “authorised to work in the United States” in the description.
- A salary in Australian dollars, an Australian time zone or “APAC” in the location are good signs.
- Or skip the checking: every job on Remotejobify has been read this way, and shows the line that proves it’s open to you.

How we counted
We read each job from the company’s own job board, including its location and description, and work out who it’s open to. A job counts as open to Australia if it names Australia, a region that includes it, like APAC or ANZ, or says you can work from anywhere. A job that doesn’t say counts as not open. These numbers are from today’s list, 22 October 2026, and change as jobs open and close.
