Job description
From inBeat Agency’s job post, as they wrote it.
About us
Fieldtrip is a group of creative growth agencies, led by inBeat, that connects enterprise brands with the creators and communities who move their audiences. We run performance-driven paid media and micro-influencer campaigns for more than 250 brands — powered by a distributed team of roughly 200 people across 15+ countries, and a stack of tools that has scaled faster than the function that supports it.
Read the full description
We are a remote-first, contractor-heavy, data-led agency group. We move quickly, we ship real work for real clients, and we care about the infrastructure behind the work as much as the work itself.
The role
This is the first senior IT hire across the portfolio. You'll make IT simple and scalable for ~200 people within our agencies, working fully remotely across 15+ countries.
You will own IT end-to-end across the tools, the identity layer, the vendor stack, the BYOD posture, and the baseline cybersecurity and compliance. You’re the brain behind the system and the hands that make it work.
You will partner with the COO, the founders, and the operations team to design an IT function that scales, without bloating the team or the budget.
What you'll do
* Own the IT function end-to-end. Systems, identity, access, onboarding, offboarding, tooling, and vendor relationships across every portfolio company.
* Design for BYOD and distributed teams. Build a security posture that works for personal devices, contractor workflows, and cross-border data realities.
* Rationalise the stack. Kill shadow IT, consolidate overlapping SaaS, and deliver visible monthly savings on tools like Figma, Airtable and their cousins.
* Make access easy. Set up identity and access management so people can work across companies without chasing permissions.
* Build processes people actually use. Help delivery and every other team work faster and more centrally, with AI built into how work gets done. Then check what's working and fix what isn't.
* Support security and governance. Put sensible baseline controls in place for a BYOD setup and compliance requirements. If parts of that sit outside your expertise, you’d collaborate with a security consultant and manage the work end to end with them.
* Lead, write, document. Turn tribal knowledge into runbooks. Explain IT risk and tradeoffs in plain English. Build the function so it doesn't depend on you.
What we're looking for
Must-haves
* 5+ years of experience in IT functions in start-up/scale-up environments. Includes either building an IT function from scratch or meaningfully restructuring one.
* Remote or hybrid experience. You've supported distributed teams before.
* Strong identity and access management foundation.
* A builder mindset. You ship systems that run without you.
* The confidence to defend your call. You know how to make the case and bring people with you.
* Clear communication. You explain complex IT to non-technical people and document what you build.
Nice-to-haves
* Fully remote experience.
* Experience supporting a BYOD workforce.
* Familiarity with PIPEDA or other Canadian privacy requirements.
* Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks; experience running cybersecurity and compliance.
* Prior portfolio / multi-entity IT experience.
Our core stack
* Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, ClickUp, Figma, and AI tools across teams.
Not a fit if
* You've spent your whole career in an office.
* Your background is mostly large Microsoft or Azure enterprise environments.
* You measure success by how much you build rather than how much gets used.
* You want to advise and move on. This is an ownership role.
Why join us
* You build the function. No legacy system to maintain. No politics to dismantle. A clean sheet and real leadership scope.
* Real leverage. Every system you design touches ~200 people across 15+ countries from day one.
* Clear path to grow. Room to build the team beneath you as the company grows.
* Remote by design. Work from anywhere with 4h EST overlap. Contractor-friendly setup.
* A leadership team that wants an IT function. The mandate, the budget, and the backing are in place, that's why we're hiring.
