What you'll do
- Lead and grow your own client relationships and bring in new work in development approvals, environmental review and land use.
- Manage matters independently from intake through to an approval or litigation outcome.
- Handle environmental review, related drafting and assembly of the administrative record.
- Advise clients on state subdivision, annexation and earthquake fault zoning statutes.
- Partner with fellow practice group members on joint matters and work that spans other practice areas.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 10 years of land use practice since bar admission, with a California focus.
- An established, portable client base that you can bring to a new firm.
- Substantial California environmental review (CEQA) experience and skill in planning approval strategy for a range of development project types.
- Transactional land use background covering project approvals, permitting and subdivision map work, not only litigation.
- California Bar admission and a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Proven ability to generate your own client work without relying on others for a steady flow of matters.
- Based in the Bay Area and able to be in the office on Wednesdays.
Bonus points
- Experience serving affordable housing, natural resources or public sector and higher education clients.
- Background as a partner at a larger firm looking for a different culture and economics, or at a boutique looking for broader platform support.
