Ro is consistently recognized as a top workplace in Health Care, in New York, and for Women and Parents—earning more than 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. In 2025 alone, we ranked top 5 among medium workplaces in Health Care and New York, and top 50 nationwide.

As the Director of Learning & Development on Ro's Care Delivery team, you will own the learning strategy and programs supporting hundreds of clinical and non-clinical patient-facing team members. You will ensure our teams have the knowledge, skills, and resources to deliver high-quality patient care at scale, from onboarding and new program launches to ongoing development, performance improvement, and retraining.
You will build the systems, processes, and infrastructure that enable Learning & Development to operate effectively as our business evolves. This includes establishing how we identify and prioritize learning needs, develop and maintain content, scale learning across teams, and measure whether learning translates into the expected behaviors and performance outcomes. You will also own the evaluation and adoption of learning technologies and tools, ensuring the team is equipped to operate efficiently and stays at the forefront of adult learning practices, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches to learning. You will partner closely with Clinical, Operations, Quality & Safety, Product, and other cross-functional leaders to ensure learning investments address the right problems and drive measurable impact.
You are a strategic and operational leader who knows how to build a scalable learning function in a fast-moving, complex environment. You bring strong judgment about when training is the right solution, a data-driven approach to improving frontline performance, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing team. You are a complexity buster - able to distill the most complex clinical or technical concepts to acceptable learning content. You are equally comfortable setting long-term direction, establishing practical systems and processes, and driving execution through your team and cross-functional partners.

What You’ll Do:
Set the learning strategy

Own the end-to-end learning strategy for hundreds of clinical and non-clinical patient-facing team members, spanning onboarding, new programs and launches, ongoing learning, and performance-based retraining.

Establish priorities and learning approaches that support business objectives, operational readiness, and high-quality patient care.

Build scalable learning systems and processes

Establish how learning needs are identified, evaluated, prioritized, and addressed. Create efficient processes for intake, content development, cross-team reuse, maintenance, and governance.

Determine when formal training is needed versus more targeted interventions, and select the tools and technologies required to deliver learning effectively at scale.

Measure learning effectiveness and drive performance improvement

Establish how we assess knowledge acquisition, skill proficiency, and on-the-job application. Partner with Quality, Operations, and frontline leaders to use performance data and frontline feedback to identify capability gaps, diagnose root causes, and implement targeted learning interventions.

Build feedback loops that continuously improve learning programs and frontline performance.

Build and lead a Learning Center of Excellence

Build and develop a high-performing team spanning training and knowledge management. Establish clear roles, accountability, and ways of working across the Learning CoE, frontline teams, and subject matter experts

Partner with Product, Quality, and Data partners to use Learning as a way to achieve quality, safety, and patient experience goals

Create a consistent, scalable approach to delivering accurate, relevant, and effective learning and knowledge resources across Care Delivery

Ensure the team stays at the forefront of adult learning technology and best practices and continuously evolves how learning is designed, delivered, and measured.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:
10+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, training, or enablement, including experience leading learning programs and teams at scale; experience in healthcare, clinical operations, or another complex, regulated environment preferred. Proven ability to develop and execute a learning strategy that supports multiple functions, audiences, and business priorities. Experience building or scaling a centralized learning function, including establishing operating models, intake and prioritization processes, content governance, and cross-functional ways of working. Strong understanding of adult learning, instructional design, learning needs analysis, assessment, and performance consulting, with the judgment to distinguish training needs from process, tooling, knowledge management, or other operational gaps. Demonstrated ability to measure learning effectiveness and connect learning outcomes to observable behaviors, quality measures, and operational performance. Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing learning technologies, including learning management systems, content development tools, knowledge management platforms, and learning analytics. Proven people leadership experience, including building teams, developing talent, setting clear expectations, and driving accountability. Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and partner effectively with clinical, operational, technical, and quality teams. Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution, navigate ambiguity, and make sound prioritization decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA

401(k) with company match
