Job description

From USALCO’s job post, as they wrote it.

We're hiring for curiosity.

Water treatment is a field where experience matters, and we know you may not have it yet. We're hiring for curiosity, communication, and drive. We'll teach you the chemistry, the plants, and the technology.

You'll spend your first year learning to do what our Water Treatment Specialists do: help municipal plants and channel partners treat water better. That means our coagulants, Decision Blue's treatment intelligence, and Sentry's real-time biological monitoring. After that, you'll own a territory.

Read the full description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Year one is a classroom with a truck.

In your first 12 months, you'll learn:

* Coagulation, flocculation, and phosphorus removal, and where our products fit
* How municipal wastewater plants run, and what keeps superintendents up at night
* Sentry fundamentals: BOD, BCOD, and VFA in plain terms, and when real-time biological data changes a plant's decisions
* Decision Blue, including how to use Virtual Jar testing to support customer conversations
* Our sales process, from qualifying a lead to handing off a quote

As you grow, you'll:

* Visit customer sites with senior Specialists and SMEs, then lead visits yourself
* Run basic jar tests and read the results
* Spot and qualify opportunities, and flag them to the right Specialist or SME
* Support pilots and installs by tracking progress and following up with customers
* Keep our CRM current so the team can see what's moving
* Take on a defined territory or account set once you've completed the development plan

Skills you have. Skills we'll build.

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field (chemistry, environmental science, engineering, biology), or equivalent hands-on experience
* Strong written and verbal communication, because you'll translate technical ideas for non-technical people
* Willingness to travel and spend time in plants, in the field, and in all weather (approx. 40%)
* A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
* Comfort learning new technology quickly

HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

* Internship, co-op, or lab experience
* Customer-facing experience in any field, such as sales, service, or hospitality
* Familiarity with CRM tools or data dashboards
* Military, trades, or operations experience

WHO THRIVES HERE

You'll fit in if you

* Ask good questions and write down the answers.
* Are comfortable saying "I don't know yet. I'll find out."
* Can earn trust with a plant operator who's been doing this for 25 years.
* Like variety: one day a lab, the next a lagoon, then a customer call.

WHAT WE OFFER

A plan, a mentor, and a path.

* A structured 12-month development plan with clear milestones
* Ride-alongs and mentorship with experienced Specialists and our Sentry SMEs
* Training on our products, platforms, and the fundamentals of water treatment
* A defined path to Water Treatment Specialist
* Competitive compensation and a full benefits plan
