Job description

From Claravine’s job post, as they wrote it.

VP of Product

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Preferred locations: Boston or Salt Lake City

Who We Are

At the birth of digital, Claravine noticed a persistent problem with data integrity. This discovery led to a unique category solution that continues to redefine how top brands and agencies manage the digital experience. We take the drama out of data by standardizing data at the source, giving people, teams, and technology a shared understanding of their data.

What We Do

Claravine is The Data Standards Company. We help brands and agencies deliver on the promise of modern marketing by standardizing taxonomies, naming conventions, and metadata across all digital experiences at the source of data creation. That’s why a quarter of the Fortune 100 use our platform, The Data Standards Cloud, to define, apply, and connect standards across their ecosystem for faster decisions, greater agility, and increased ROI.

We Are Hiring

The VP of Product Management leads Claravine’s combined Product Management and Product Design organization through the company’s next stage of growth: the move from a single product to a multi-product platform, and AI-driven capabilities that help customers get more value from their data, faster. Reporting to the CEO and serving on the executive team, this role owns product strategy and carries commercial accountability for the outcomes that strategy produces: new product and SKU revenue, feature adoption, time-to-value, and Net Promoter Score. This is a growth-focused role. You will partner closely with our technology and revenue leaders and share accountability for Claravine’s new-ARR and growth targets.

What You’ll Do

Product Strategy & Roadmap

* Own Claravine’s product strategy, and translate it into a prioritized roadmap for category creation that balances revenue enablement and innovation
* Lead Claravine’s move from a single product to a multi-product portfolio: balance big strategic bets against necessary enterprise needs, put investment where product value is actually created
* Hold the roadmap against Claravine’s core capability bets
* Surface tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies early; recommend a path, then execute decisively once a decision is made, including the hard calls: sunsetting products, changing leaders, and reversing bets that are not working, while bringing the organization along
* Execute the roadmap, ensuring capabilities ship as adopted customer workflows rather than isolated features

AI-Native Products & Development

* Reconceive Claravine’s products around what AI makes possible, rather than adding AI features to existing workflows, and bring AI-native products to market
* Partner with the Chief Technology Officer to apply AI across the product development lifecycle, from discovery and specifications through design, build, and testing, to shorten cycle time and raise quality

Commercial Ownership

* Own the product’s value model — the quantified cost of the customer’s current solutions
* Ensure every roadmap initiative carries a commercial hypothesis, and every new product or SKU launch carries a commercial plan with success criteria agreed upon with Sales and Marketing before launch
* Own new product and SKU launches in service of Claravine’s new-ARR growth targets; carry the revenue number for them, and keep adjusting packaging, pricing, positioning, feature set, and enablement until they convert, or make the call to stop
* Partner with the Chief Revenue Officer and the GTM team on pricing and packaging, enablement, and presale motions; be in the field with Sales, not briefing from a distance
* Be credible in front of enterprise buyers, including C-level marketing leaders at Fortune 500 companies; join deals, renewals, and expansions to sell the value of the solution, not to demo features

Product Discovery & Customer Insight

* Establish and run the product discovery lifecycle: how customer, win/loss, and market feedback gets collected, analyzed, and turned into roadmap decisions
* Partner with Customer Success to prioritize product-related customer challenges and close the loop
* Maintain working knowledge of buyer activities (planning, activation, measurement) and the surrounding ecosystem (DAMs, DSPs, CDPs, campaign activation platforms)

Adoption, Design & Time-to-Value

* Own product adoption and time-to-value as primary accountabilities, not just feature delivery
* Lead the unified Product and Design organization, partnering with our established Product Design leader to tighten cross-functional collaboration and ensure user experience is a core driver of platform adoption and customer retention.
* Build product and design debt visibility the same way engineering tracks technical debt: known, prioritized, and deliberately traded off
* Deliver the product capabilities that enhance Claravine’s Creative Measurement

Cross-Functional Leadership & Operating Rhythm

* Build a high-trust, low-ego partnership with our technology leader where product strategy and technical architecture meet: share accountability and wins, disagree productively, and refuse turf battles
* Operate the Product-to-Market and Customer Success-to-Product decision forums
* Run the Product Council, where the roadmap gets a commercial review with the customer voice at the table
* Write and hold the quality bar for product one-pagers, use cases, and specifications that let Engineering start building — be hands-on whenever needed

Team & Organization Building

* Build and scale a lean, high-performing integrated Product Management and Design organization, operating in a startup environment; attract and keep A-players
* Establish role clarity, career paths, and succession depth across Product and Design
* Coach product managers and designers through the full product discovery lifecycle

How You Lead

* You are hungry. The mission matters to you, and you bring the effort a company at our stage requires.
* You think like an owner. You make product decisions for Claravine’s overall value, not for the product org’s territory, and you own your misses.
* You are candid. You tell the same story to the board, the team, and customers, and you are honest about roadmap commitments.
* You roll up your sleeves. You personally drive product thinking and do real product work, not only delegate it.
* You are personable and service-oriented, and you bring energy to the executive team and the product organization.
* You know your strengths and gaps, look for feedback that challenges you, and can point to what you changed because of it.

What You Bring to the Table

We will look for specific evidence of each of the following in interviews and reference checks.

* 10+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS and enterprise workflows, including 5+ years leading product managers, with experience leading leaders
* Experience leading a multi-product portfolio, or taking a company from a single product to multiple products, including pricing strategy across the portfolio
* Domain experience in MarTech or enterprise marketing data: you have worked directly with brands and agencies, understand the challenges of marketing and Ad operations, content & creative production, and analytics teams, and know the approaches used to solve them
* A track record of building complex products that take multiple iterations to become great, in at least two organizations serving a growing enterprise customer base
* Demonstrable revenue attribution from products or SKUs you owned — not just shipped — including experience carrying a new-product or new-SKU revenue number and being measured on it. You can name the product, the revenue attributed to it, and what you changed when the first launch did not convert
* A track record of pricing and packaging partnership with GTM, of being in front of C-level enterprise buyers alongside Sales, and of launches that converted commercially
* A track record of high-trust, jointly owned partnerships with engineering leadership
* Direct management of designers, or a demonstrated deep working partnership with design leadership, with a track record of raising UX quality in measurable ways (adoption, time-to-value, friction metrics)
* A shipped, in-market product where AI is the core of a solution you personally conceived, not an added feature, tied to real, measured customer outcomes
* Hands-on experience applying AI across the B2B SaaS product development lifecycle alongside engineering leadership, resulting in measurable gains in delivery speed or product quality. |
* A rare mix of technical depth and customer empathy, with a proven track record of designing data-centric or AI-driven features that map directly to measured business outcomes, and ROI for Fortune 100 enterprise brands.
* Examples of hard calls you made and landed, such as sunsetting a product, changing a leader, or reversing a bet, and how you brought the organization along
* A lean, high-performing product team you built, and the strong people you attracted and kept
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate product direction and build accountability across teams you don’t directly own

Nice to Have

* Hands-on AdOps expertise
* Proficiency with buyer activities (planning, activation, measurement) and the enterprise marketing platform ecosystem (DAMs, CMS, DSPs, DMPs, CDPs, campaign activation)
