Job Responsibilities
Development and Engineering
* Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Ruby on Rails
* Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with external financial services platforms
* Write clean, secure, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code following established best practices
* Contribute to the ongoing enhancement, security, and modernisation of the core platform including framework upgrades
Analysis and Problem Solving
* Analyse business and technical requirements to translate them into reliable and scalable software solutions
* Investigate and resolve complex technical issues including application performance and production defects
* Work independently on complex and business-critical development assignments
Collaboration and Delivery
* Take ownership of assigned tasks to ensure high-quality solutions are delivered within agreed project timelines
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle including testing, deployment, and ongoing support
* Collaborate closely with Solutions Architects, developers, business analysts, and testers to achieve successful project outcomes
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience
* Substantial hands-on experience developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications
* Strong backend development expertise including application architecture and database design
* Strong experience with PostgreSQL including database queries and performance optimisation
* Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services
* Understanding of secure software development practices within regulated environments
Nice-to-Have Skills
* Experience with frontend technologies including React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
* Familiarity with Git, AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Yarn, Node.js, Webpack, Vue.js, and Unix shell scripting
* Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
* Previous experience in FinTech, banking, lending, loan origination, or credit management
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
