Job description
From WhyHireWrong?’s job post, as they wrote it.
A seed-stage B2B SaaS company is building subscription infrastructure for e-commerce businesses, spanning product experiences, payments, and developer-facing tools. They are hiring a Product Engineer to own meaningful parts of the platform: turning product intent into reliable, well-designed software and improving how merchants and developers use the product.
This is a hands-on engineering role with real product ownership. The engineer will work across frontend, backend, and interface design decisions; ship customer-facing features; and help shape the platform’s architecture as the product scales.
Read the full description
What they will do
* Design, build, and ship full-stack product features using TypeScript, Node.js, and a modern frontend framework such as Vue, Nuxt, or React.
* Own features end to end: clarify requirements, propose technical approaches, implement them, test them, release them, and measure their impact.
* Build merchant-facing subscription, billing, checkout, and e-commerce workflows that are clear, reliable, and easy to use.
* Improve developer-facing product surfaces, including APIs, documentation, integrations, onboarding, and error states.
* Translate product and design intent into accessible, visually consistent interfaces, working directly with Figma designs and contributing practical UI/UX improvements.
* Make architectural decisions that keep the platform maintainable, observable, and scalable without over-engineering early-stage systems.
* Improve engineering quality through code reviews, automated tests, monitoring, and pragmatic technical documentation.
* Work closely with product, design, and founder-level stakeholders in a small, fast-moving team.
* Use AI-assisted development tools where they measurably improve delivery speed, code quality, or debugging effectiveness.
Measurable requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate all of the following:
* Fluency in Polish and residence in Poland.
* At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience in product, SaaS, or internal-product teams.
* Current or previous hands-on experience as a Software Engineer, Full-Stack Engineer, Frontend Engineer, Product Engineer, Design Engineer, Founding Engineer, or Tech Lead.
* Production experience with TypeScript or Node.js, including shipping features used by real users or customers.
* Production experience with at least one modern frontend framework: Vue, Nuxt, or React.
* Experience working in a SaaS or product company, not exclusively in an IT outsourcing, agency, or consulting environment.
* Experience designing or implementing at least one customer-facing product feature from requirements through production release.
* Experience working with Figma or equivalent design tools and translating designs into production frontend code.
* Ability to work independently in an early-stage environment, make scoped technical decisions, and deliver without requiring detailed specifications for every task.
Strongly relevant experience
The following experience is directly relevant to the platform and will be assessed during screening:
* E-commerce engineering: Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, headless commerce, checkout, catalogs, orders, or storefronts.
* Subscriptions or payments: recurring billing, payment providers, invoicing, plan management, proration, dunning, or financial data integrity.
* Developer experience: public APIs, SDKs, webhooks, developer documentation, CLI tools, or integration platforms.
* Early-stage startup experience, especially in teams of fewer than 200 people.
* Experience blending design and engineering, such as building polished interfaces from Figma while making product and UX decisions.
* Experience with Fastify, Vue, Nuxt, or AI/LLM tooling such as OpenAI, Claude, Cursor, or Copilot.
* A stable tenure of 18 months or longer in at least one previous role.
