Overview of Role:
The Senior Director, Oncology Clinical Educators will establish and lead Summit Therapeutics’ field based Clinical Educator function, developing the strategy, infrastructure, and capabilities to support the launch and commercialization of the Company’s oncology portfolio, beginning with its NSCLC bispecific antibody. This leader will oversee the delivery of compliant, on-label education to healthcare professionals to support clinical readiness and appropriate treatment implementation.
This leader will lead the national education strategy, establish territory coverage and priorities, and partner cross-functionally while maintaining appropriate compliance oversight. The role is not a sales or marketing role, its educational objectives, performance measures, and incentives will remain independent of sales and marketing performance.
Role and Responsibilities:
* Establish and lead the Oncology Clinical Educator function, defining the vision, strategy, operating model, and annual priorities to support launch readiness and evolving business needs. Develop and execute a national clinical education strategy, including territory design, resource allocation, account prioritization, and educational engagement plans across academic and community oncology settings.
* Recruit, develop, coach, and retain Clinical Educators, and build a high-performing, clinically credible team, fostering clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous professional development.
* Provide strategic leadership and oversight of field execution, ensuring consistent, high-quality educational engagement and responsiveness to evolving healthcare professional needs.
* Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Legal, and Compliance to establish and maintain a compliant educational framework, ensuring activities are on-label, use approved materials, address legitimate educational needs, and remain appropriately independent of promotional objectives and incentives.
* Maintain clear separation between clinical education and promotional activities, ensuring the team's educational objectives, performance measures, and incentives remain independent of sales and marketing performance, in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and Medical Affairs.
* Partner strategically and cross functionally with Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Training, and Medical Affairs and other key stakeholders to align educational priorities with organizational needs while maintaining appropriate role boundaries.
* Lead the identification and assessment of educational gaps, clinical practice needs, treatment workflows, and patient management considerations to inform educational strategies and resources. Establish performance measures and reporting processes to evaluate educational effectiveness, field engagement, and healthcare professional readiness, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to senior leadership independent of sales performance. Oversee the Clinical Educator budget, headcount planning, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to ensure effective and responsible management of resources.
* Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with professional nursing organizations, oncology association, and other relevant external stakeholders to identify educational needs and opportunities for collaboration
* Build and maintain the infrastructure, processes, systems, and governance necessary to support a scalable and effective Clinical Education function.
* Ensure the team maintains current knowledge of oncology disease states, approved product information, clinical developments, and the evolving treatment landscape through ongoing training and professional development.
* Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, communicating field educational insights, emerging needs, operational challenges, and opportunities to strengthen the clinical education capabilities.
* Model and follow Summit Therapeutics’ core values and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
* All other duties as assigned
